After flying high against Mason Classical Academy two weeks ago, Everglades City came back down to earth. Everglades City wound up on the wrong side of a tough 22-10 walloping at the hands of the Community School of Naples Seahawks on Tuesday. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
Josey Ryder was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Ryder is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Ramos, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.
Everglades City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Community School of Naples, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
Everglades City will head out on the road to challenge Southwest Florida Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Everglades City knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with flashy run totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Southwest Florida Christian likes a good challenge. As for Community School of Naples, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Neumann at 6:00 p.m. Community School of Naples will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
