Softball Recap: Harper Longhorns vs. Marion Bulldogs

Harper lost against Marion back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Harper Longhorns might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 14-6 to the Marion Bulldogs, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lizzie Canning made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she's launched this season.

Even though they lost, Harper hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Harper's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Marion, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harper will head out to challenge Non Varsity Opponent on Saturday. As for Marion, they and Chapin will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Chapin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
