Baseball Recap: Bellefontaine Has No Trouble Against Indian Lake

Bellefontaine barely beat Indian Lake the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chieftains never let the Lakers get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Tuesday. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Chieftains this season.

Spencer Stolly made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Bellefontaine's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 3-1 (and 3-10 when he doesn't). Stolly was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Stolly wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sutton Daring, who went 1-for-4 with two runs. Daring has become a key player for Bellefontaine: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-11 otherwise.

The win made it two in a row for Bellefontaine and bumps their season record up to 6-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Indian Lake, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Bellefontaine will be playing at home against Piqua at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chieftains are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Indian Lake has already played their next game (against Chaminade Julienne Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
