Baseball Game Preview: Medina Mustangs vs. Wilson Lakemen

For the second straight game, Medina will face off against Wilson. The Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Lakemen at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Medina knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Wilson likes a good challenge.

Medina barely beat Wilson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lakemen a 10-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Mustangs have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brody Fry made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Aidan Papaj was incredible, going 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Carter Woodworth was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Medina always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilson only posted an OBP of .118.

This is the second loss in a row for Wilson and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Medina, their record is now 16-1.

Wilson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Medina has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489. It's a different story for Wilson, though, as they've only averaged .345.
