Football Recap: Fleming Island Golden Eagles vs. Riverside Generals
Fleming Island was the 31-26 winner over Riverside when they last played one another back in November of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Fleming Island Golden Eagles fell 48-39 to the Riverside Generals on Friday.
Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trace Burney, who picked up 75 receiving yards and two touchdowns. That's the most total yards Burney has posted since back in September of 2023. Fleming Island also got a significant boost from Demhir Jackson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 113 yards.

Tae?Shaun Gelsey went supernova for Riverside, picking up 163 receiving yards and five touchdowns. With that strong performance, Gelsey is now averaging an impressive 113.5 receiving yards per game. Glenn Foreman Iii was another key player, throwing for 204 yards and three touchdowns.
Fleming Island's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Riverside, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.
Fleming Island will square off against Oakleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Fleming Island focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday. As for Riverside, they will face off against Orange Park at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
