Basketball Recap: Irmo Comes Up Short

Irmo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes and fell 70-39. The Yellow Jackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-16.

Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abby Livingston, who posted 14 points. That was a full 35.9% of Irmo's points, marking the third time in a row Livingston has had more than a third of the team's points. Jayla Anderson was another key player, putting up ten points.

Dutch Fork got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Michaela Fairwell out in front who went 6-for-13 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Fairwell has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire Howard, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Irmo's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Dutch Fork, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 21-2.

Irmo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 53-42 loss against Lucy Beckham on the 17th. Dutch Fork does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
