League recap: Spearman rises in state rank

Spearman scaled the state rankings by moving to 482 from 566 this week, the biggest jump in 2A-2 Region I District 1. The Lynx climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Highland Park 57-12.

Canadian extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Boys Ranch, 49-20. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.

Canadian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ben Arbuckle threw for 308 and 5 touchdowns and Boston Hudson had 101 yards receiving. On the ground Ryan Royse chipped in 44 yards. Sawyer Cook helped Canadian's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 77 yards.

He was 20-25 with 0 interceptions.

Royse was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 44 yards on 3 carries as Chris Koetting's team defeated the Roughriders. Tannner Schaefer also contributed to the rushing game with 38 yards on the ground.

Canadian's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Arbuckle has thrown for 2,543 yards and 31 touchdowns this season, while Hudson has 40 catches for 703 yards.

A big matchup in 2A-2 Region I District 1 this week will be when Spearman takes on Sanford-Fritch. Steve Rodman's team is in second place, while the Eagles are in fourth place.

The Lynx took down the Hornets 57-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
