Basketball Recap: Waldron Starts Season with Win at Home

Waldron gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They blew past the Knightstown Panthers 71-51. The Mohawks not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since January 31st (when they won 56-19).

Eli Stewart went supernova, going 9-for-15 en route to 23 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Those three steals gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Myers, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 14 points.

Knightstown's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Waldron is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Triton Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Knightstown, they will venture away from home to square off against Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
