After a string of six wins dating back to last season, Springville's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Gadsden City Titans by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since March 21, 2024.

Springville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Martinez, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Kevin Jones was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Having lost for the first time this season, Springville fell to 5-1. As for Gadsden City, with the victory, they broke their 11-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springville will face off against Mortimer Jordan at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mortimer Jordan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Gadsden City, they will take on St. Clair County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
