Softball Recap: Cabool Bulldogs vs. Mountain Grove Panthers
Cabool extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-12. They lost 12-0 to the Mountain Grove Panthers. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 14-1 to the Panthers when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Mountain Grove, they now have a winning record of 9-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by nine runs or more this season.
For Mountain Grove's part, Hannah Dowden was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Dowden has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mountain Grove got a massive performance out of Chloe Slagle, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Slagle is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Briley Curtiss was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Coming up, Cabool will be playing at home against Houston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mountain Grove, they will head out to square off against Willow Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
