Basketball Recap: Caprock Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Brenley Witt and Taylor Phillips

Caprock Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a hard 44-27 fall against the Vail Mountain Gore Rangers. The Eagles were down 38-16 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Taylor Phillips and Brenley Witt certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Phillips posted no points in addition to seven steals and six boards, while Witt put up five points and three steals. Phillips has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Vail Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abby Adochio led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Izzy Adochio was another key player, putting up 13 points along with five boards and three steals.

Caprock Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Vail Mountain, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-6.

Caprock Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-19 defeat against Plateau Valley on the 14th. As for Vail Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-23 loss against Battle Mountain on the 14th.
