Softball Game Preview: Payne Tech Lions vs. Millburn Millers

The Payne Tech Lions will challenge the Millburn Millers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Payne Tech will be strutting in after a win while Millburn will be coming in after a loss.

On Monday, Payne Tech got the win against Belleville by a conclusive 19-9. Considering the Lions have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Anais Soto, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Amarilis Negron, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Millburn lost 13-3 to Montclair Kimberley Academy on Monday.

Millburn saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoe Barnett, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Millburn has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Payne Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.

Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Payne Tech has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489. However, it's not like Millburn struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Payne Tech took their win against Millburn when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 12-1 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Millers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
