Baseball Game Preview: Cocalico Eagles vs. Donegal Indians

The Cocalico Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Donegal Indians at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Cocalico has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cocalico is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They came up short against Manheim Central, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered against the Barons since April 27, 2022.

Cocalico saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Horning, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Donegal and Elizabethtown, and Elizabethtown kept the tradition alive. The Indians lost 13-7 to the Bears on Friday.

Sawyer Floyd made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Donegal is 4-1 when Floyd posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-4 otherwise. Andrew Fabian also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Donegal now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Cocalico, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Cocalico couldn't quite get it done against Donegal when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
