Baseball Game Preview: Bethlehem Center Bulldogs vs. Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers

Bethlehem Center is 1-9 against Chartiers-Houston since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. Chartiers-Houston took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bethlehem Center, who comes in off a win.

While Bethlehem Center's win against Bentworth wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Bearcats 5-4 on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won three in a row.

Eli Wright was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonah Sussan, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Logan Durbin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Chartiers-Houston's offense. They came up short against Jefferson-Morgan on Monday, falling 7-0. The Buccaneers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Chartiers-Houston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josiah Moushlian, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Bethlehem Center's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Chartiers-Houston, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
