Baseball Recap: Hattiesburg Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Hattiesburg was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the West Marion Trojans 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 9, 2024.

Hattiesburg got a great performance from JB Bryant as he struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Bryant has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jacob Polk was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Hattiesburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. The loss snapped West Marion's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-13 record.

Coincidentally, Hattiesburg and West Marion will both be playing Perry Central the next time they take the field. West Marion will head out to face Perry Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Hattiesburg will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on April 4.
