Baseball Recap: Harlingen South Extends Road Winning Streak to Nine

Harlingen South had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Donna Redskins a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Richard Pizano's shutout, as he gave up just six hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Josh Ruiz was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kris Cruz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Harlingen South pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Donna, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.

Harlingen South has already played their next contest, a 6-4 victory against Harlingen on the 12th. As for Donna, they will welcome Edcouch-Elsa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
