Basketball Recap: Chippewa Comes Up Short

After flying high against Dalton last Tuesday, Chippewa came back down to earth. The Chippewa Chipps fell to the Norwayne Bobcats 60-55. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chipps this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-56 back in December of 2024.

Norwayne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Maibach led the charge by going 7 for 12 en route to 23 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. Those 23 points gave Maibach a new career-high. Hannah Froelich was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Chippewa's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Norwayne, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

Chippewa has already played their next match, a 51-42 win against Waynedale on the 1st. As for Norwayne, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-44 victory against Smithville on the 1st.
