Softball Recap: Coronado Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Coronado and Shadow Ridge squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Coronado had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent loss being a 14-5 defeat back in April.

Bailey Goldberg was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Paisley Magdaleno, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Coronado's defeat dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Shadow Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Coronado does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shadow Ridge, they will face off against Arbor View at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Aggies have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
