Softball Recap: Knott County Central Patriots vs. Hazard Bulldogs

Knott County Central extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 12-24. They came up short against the Hazard Bulldogs, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-7 back in March.

As for Hazard, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games.

For Hazard's part, Sami Noble made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Noble has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Hazard got a massive performance out of Zoe Gabbard, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Griffith, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Coincidentally, Knott County Central and Hazard will both be playing Leslie County the next time they take the field. The Patriots will head out to face the Eagles on Friday, while the Bulldogs will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
