Baseball Recap: Kent City Has No Trouble Against Lakeview

Kent City lost to Lakeview on Monday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 15-3 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Justin Anderson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Kent City let Grayson Preston and Aaron Vanderwest run wild. Preston went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Vanderwest went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Kent City is 2-1 when Vanderwest posts three or more hits, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zach Flegel, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Kent City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in five consecutive games.

Kent City's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Lakeview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
