Softball Game Preview: Mishicot Indians vs. St. Mary Catholic Zephyrs

For the second straight game, Mishicot will face off against St. Mary Catholic. The Indians will challenge the Zephyrs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mishicot has nine straight victories, St. Mary Catholic has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

St. Mary Catholic's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Mishicot hadn't allowed a single run the last five times they've hit the field. The Indians never let the Zephyrs get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Monday. Considering the Indians have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Cooper Brouchoud, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sierra Skarda, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with five RBI, one triple, and one run.

Mishicot was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .680. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Mishicot pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Mary Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

St. Mary Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Mishicot has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.4 strikeouts per game.
