Recap: Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs vs. Redeemer Christian Lions

The Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs entered their tilt with the Redeemer Christian Lions with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Meadowbrook Academy snuck past Redeemer Christian with a 57-53 win on Monday. For Meadowbrook Academy, this counts as revenge for the 74-27 defeat Redeemer Christian walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Meadowbrook Academy found their leader in underclassman Tico Smith, who scored 23 points along with six steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Meadowbrook Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gaige Daugherty, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Redeemer Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrew Parker. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Parker's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Patrick Miller-Edwards was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 14 rebounds.

Meadowbrook Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Redeemer Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, Meadowbrook Academy and Redeemer Christian will both be playing Riverside Christian the next time they take the court. Redeemer Christian will host Riverside Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Meadowbrook Academy will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
