Football Recap: Mena Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Mena duked it out with Stigler on Friday. The Bearcats came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 29-19. The victory was just business as usual for the Bearcats, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

Tripp Hensley threw for 125 yards and one touchdown. Tycen Baber was his top target, picking up 52 receiving yards. On the ground, Hunter McClara rushed for 100 yards.

Despite the loss, Stigler saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Graham Easttom rushed for 115 yards and one TD on only 15 carries, and also threw for 73 yards and one touchdown. Easttom didn't just play on offense: he also made nine total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception which he returned for a touchdown.

Mena's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Stigler, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

After each having a week off, Mena and Pottsville will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. The match will give the Bearcats their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Stigler, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-0 victory against Stilwell on the 19th.
