Softball Recap: Leon Comes Up Short

Leon extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-9. They lost 20-2 to the Buchholz Bobcats. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Leon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trinity Williams, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Eva Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

As for Buchholz, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Buchholz's side, they got a massive performance out of Quaniyah Robinson, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave Robinson a new career-high. Jordyn Cooper was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leon will welcome Marianna at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Buchholz, they will host Gainesville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hurricanes' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Bobcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
