Softball Game Preview: Butler Golden Tornado vs. Norwin Knights

The Butler Golden Tornado will take on the Norwin Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Butler and five for Norwin dating back to last season.

Butler came up short against Pine-Richland on Monday, falling 16-3.

Butler saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kierra Smith, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Smith a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Butler hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Norwin had taken Canon-McMillan down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. Norwin fell 4-1 to Canon-McMillan.

Norwin's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Butler, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4-1.

Butler suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Norwin in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Butler avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
