Softball Preview: St. Anthony Saints vs. St. Paul Swordsmen
The St. Anthony Saints will venture away from home to face off against the St. Paul Swordsmen at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. St. Anthony has now lost seven straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 21st.
St. Anthony fell victim to Bishop Amat and their airtight pitching crew last Tuesday. They lost 21-0 to the Lancers.
Meanwhile, St. Paul didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop Amat on Tuesday and fell 6-5. The Swordsmen haven't had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Aleena Gutierrez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Eveny Gomez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Even though they lost, St. Paul was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive contests.
St. Anthony's record is now 0-3. As for St. Paul, their record now sits at 7-9.
