Softball Recap: Holy Cross Wins Going Away Against Dayton

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Raceland, Holy Cross was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Everything went their way against the Dayton Greendevils as they made off with a 24-7 victory. The matchup marked the Indians' most dominant win of the season.

Holy Cross got a massive performance out of Zakyah Ryan, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Ryan a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Jordyn Rieselman, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Holy Cross was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dayton only posted a batting average of .111.

Holy Cross' record now sits at 8-6. As for Dayton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will face off against Walton-Verona at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Dayton, they will take on Newport Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Thoroughbreds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.14 runs per game on average), something the Greendevils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
