Basketball Game Preview: Pahrump Valley Trojans vs. Virgin Valley Bulldogs

Pahrump Valley has gone a perfect 10-0 against Virgin Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Pahrump Valley Trojans will square off against the Virgin Valley Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Pahrump Valley was beaten by Sports Leadership & Management 59-22. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Pahrump Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Riley Saldana dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 boards. Saldana is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played.

Even though they lost, Pahrump Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Virgin Valley came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 59-22 win over the Pirates. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 55-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pirates cut but never quite recovered from.

Virgin Valley pushed their record up to 21-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.3 points over those games. As for Pahrump Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-15.

Everything came up roses for Pahrump Valley against Virgin Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 51-17 win. In that game, Pahrump Valley amassed a halftime lead of 29-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
