Softball Recap: New Richmond Takes a Loss

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither New Richmond nor St. Ursula Academy made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Lions fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lions have suffered since April 18th.

Gracie Seibert was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Molly Schuster also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

New Richmond's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for St. Ursula Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

New Richmond and St. Ursula Academy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Lions will face off against Goshen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Richmond's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for St. Ursula Academy, they will host Little Miami at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 2.6, the Panthers 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
