Recap: Stephens County Indians vs. Elbert County Blue Devils
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Stephens County Indians ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They managed a 67-62 victory over Elbert County. The win was just what Stephens County needed coming off of a 88-47 defeat in their prior contest.
Despite the loss, Elbert County still got an impressive performance from Grady Jones, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Boaz Goodman, who scored 15 points.
Stephens County's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Elbert County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stephens County will face off against Tallulah Falls at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Tallulah Falls is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Elbert County, they will head out on the road to face off against Athens Academy at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Athens Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Elbert County in Georgia (Athens Academy is ranked 91st, while Elbert County is ranked 343rd).
