Baseball Recap: Willingboro Comes Up Short

Willingboro extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They lost 16-6 to the Medford Tech Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 on April 14th.

As for Medford Tech, their win bumped their record up to 6-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Medford Tech's part, Jacob Inman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Inman was even better at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Medford Tech's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Simon, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Medford Tech: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zachary Brenner, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Coming up, Willingboro is taking a road trip to challenge Palmyra at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Chimeras surely won't give up without a fight. As for Medford Tech, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pennsauken Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
