Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Colton's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Colton won against Jurupa Hills last Wednesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Jurupa Valley Jaguars. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

STEPHANIE DELACRUZ was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double. JOCELYN ORNELAS was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

DELACRUZ wasn't the only one making solid contact: Colton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Yellowjackets are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Colton is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Jurupa Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colton will venture away from home to face off against Xavier Prep at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Yellowjackets are facing the Saints at the right time seeing as the Saints are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Jurupa Valley, they will head out to take on Rubidoux at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.67 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
