Volleyball Recap: Crete Takes a Loss

Crete's tournament run continued when they took on Thayer Central on Saturday. The Cardinals fell 2-0 to the Titans. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Crete ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-17.

Kassidy Egge paced Crete's offense, picking up five kills. Egge got some help from Ariana Heusinkvelt and her 12 assists.

Thayer Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison Marsh led the charge by getting ten digs and two aces. Atlie Wiedel was another key player, getting 11 digs.

Crete's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Thayer Central, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Crete has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Lincoln High on the 23rd. As for Thayer Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Buena Vista on the 20th.
