Baseball Game Preview: Lakewood Tigers vs. Chatfield Chargers

For the second straight game, Lakewood will face off against Chatfield. The Tigers will host the Chargers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lakewood is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Lakewood fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Chatfield on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 7-6.

For Chatfield's part, Isaac Low made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Low is becoming a predictor of Chatfield's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 6-3 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Low was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Brody Batz was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Chatfield: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 6-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Harman, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Chatfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Chatfield now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
