Baseball Recap: Medford Wins Going Away Against Everett

Medford's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Everett Crimson Tide as they made off with a 14-0 win. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

John Wright made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Medford: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Medford got a big performance out of Justin Marino, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Marino has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Travers Moodie, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Medford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Everett struck out eight times.

Medford's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-4-1. As for Everett, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Coming up, Medford will be playing at home against Lynn English at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Everett, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Malden at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Tornados' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Crimson Tide's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
