Softball Recap: Flint Hill Has No Trouble Against Sidwell Friends

Flint Hill won the last time they faced Sidwell Friends and things went their way on Thursday too. The Huskies blew past the Quakers 11-2. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

Cate Stanley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jane Stanley, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaina Gilbert, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Flint Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sidwell Friends only posted a batting average of .200.

The victory made it two in a row for Flint Hill and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Sidwell Friends, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Flint Hill didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-0 loss against St. Catherine's on the 22nd. As for Sidwell Friends, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-2 victory against Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart on the 22nd.
