Baseball Game Preview: Catholic Central Hilltoppers vs. Luther Prep Phoenix

The Catholic Central Hilltoppers will head out on the road to take on the Luther Prep Phoenix at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Catholic Central is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Catholic Central made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Living Word Lutheran, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hilltoppers fell just short of the Timberwolves by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Luther Prep got themselves on the board against Waterloo on Thursday, but Waterloo never followed suit. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Pirates. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Phoenix.

Luther Prep's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Martin, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Luther Prep's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Catholic Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Catholic Central skirted past Luther Prep 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hilltoppers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
