Baseball Recap: Pennsville Memorial Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Pennsville Memorial won the last time they faced Glassboro and things went their way on Monday too. The Eagles came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 12-7. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on five straight.

Cohen Petrutz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Stephen Fatcher, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Chase Burchfield, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Pennsville Memorial pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Glassboro, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pennsville Memorial will square off against Eastern at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Glassboro, they will face off against Woodstown at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
