Softball Game Preview: Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils vs. Bishop McDevitt Crusaders

The Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils will square off against the Bishop McDevitt Crusaders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Greencastle-Antrim is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Greencastle-Antrim came up short against South Western and fell 7-3. The game marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meadow Gambacurta made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Zhen Reuter, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Bishop McDevitt beat Gettysburg 7-4 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crusaders.

Janna Thomas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Thomas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Bishop McDevitt got a big performance out of Alivia Whiteside, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Katelyn Roadcap was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Having lost for the first time this season, Greencastle-Antrim fell to 9-1. As for Bishop McDevitt, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
