Baseball Recap: Rubidoux Comes Up Short

Rubidoux extended their losing streak to 13 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-18 in the process. They came up short against the Ramona Rams, falling 14-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 on April 1st.

Gavin Brosius made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Ramona, their record now sits at 11-12-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Ramona's side, Richard Laskey was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Laskey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Anthony Avina was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Ramona is 3-1 when Avina posts two or more runs, but 8-11-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Michael Shanahan, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ramona beat Rubidoux by a score of 23-2 on Thursday.
