Basketball Game Preview: Garrison Troopers vs. New Town Eagles

Having just played yesterday, the Garrison Troopers will get right back to it and host the New Town Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

New Town is hoping to do what Standing Rock couldn't on Friday: put an end to Garrison's winning streak, which now stands at four games. Garrison blew past Standing Rock 59-39. That 20 point margin sets a new team best for the Troopers this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Town). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat White Shield 89-19. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 22 points or more this season.

Garrison's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for New Town, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Things could have been worse for Garrison, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-34 loss to New Town in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. Can Garrison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
