The Hopewell Vikings will venture away from home to  square off against the Southmoreland Scotties  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Hopewell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 38.8  points per game  this season.
On Friday, Hopewell came up short against North Catholic  and fell  44-36. The Vikings have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

 Hopewell might have lost, but man,  Nasir Wade was a machine:  he rushed for 147 yards and three  TDs on only 11 carries. Wade is becoming a predictor of the Vikings' success: when he posts  at  least two  rushing touchdowns the team is 4-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was  James Armstrong, who rushed for 61 yards and one  touchdown.
Meanwhile,  you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Southmoreland  on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Greensburg Salem out of the water with  a  38-0 final score. Given the Scotties' advantage  in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Golden Lions are ranked 413th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Southmoreland found their leader in sophomore  Averyon Darnell, who rushed for 93 yards and a pair of  scores. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget  Cam Lee, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
 Southmoreland didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Greensburg Salem to a completion percentage of just 23.1%. The team can thank  Luke Stinnett for the heroic effort on defense: he. Southmoreland wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 55.6%.
 Southmoreland's defense didn't let  Brody Chismar, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess:  Jackson Mickens,  Dawson Wolfe,  and  Justin Hribal, who each picked up one  sack apiece.
 Hopewell's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Southmoreland, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
