Basketball Recap: Park Rapids Sets Scoring Season-High Against Pillager

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Park Rapids). They walked away with a 91-82 win over the Pillager Huskies on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Park Rapids to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryan Carroll, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Carroll a new career-high in steals (seven). Landon Strasburg was another key player, putting up 25 points along with five assists and three steals.

Park Rapids smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matchups.

Park Rapids pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.0 points per game. As for Pillager, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Park Rapids will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Pillager also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Little Falls at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Pillager is facing Little Falls at the right time seeing as Little Falls is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
