Softball Recap: Pine View Takes a Loss

Pine View had lost seven straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 5-22 to make it eight. They came up short against the Hurricane Tigers, falling 8-2. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent loss being a 16-6 defeat on Friday.

Kylie Carpenter was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Kam Sullivan was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple and one run.

As for Hurricane, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-15. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

On Hurricane's side, Ashlyn Hirschi made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Hirschi has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ruby Seely, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Dominguez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.

As of now, neither Pine View nor Hurricane have any future games scheduled.
