Softball Recap: Galt Takes a Loss

Galt extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 8-15. They lost 13-2 to the Union Mine Diamondbacks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Diamondbacks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in April.

Galt saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoey Sanchez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Union Mine, they now have a winning record of 11-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

On Union Mine's side, Eden Sams tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Sams has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makenna Linder, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridgette Helmer, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Galt has already played their next game, a 10-0 defeat against Sutter on the 13th. As for Union Mine, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-10 loss against Orestimba on the 13th.
