Softball Game Preview: Plum Mustangs vs. North Hills Indians

The Plum Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the North Hills Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Plum is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.

Plum's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Penn Hills with a sharp 13-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won five in a row.

The team relied heavily on Gia Tavella, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Jaiden Gentile was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two triples and two runs.

Plum was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, North Hills came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Titans.

Plum's record now sits at 13-3. As for North Hills, their record is now 8-3.

Plum skirted past North Hills 12-10 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
