Softball Recap: Sherando Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Sherando had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the James Wood Colonels. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 23, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Kendra Chunta was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Elleana Shutts, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Sherando's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for James Wood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Sherando will square off against rival Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, James Wood is set to challenge their familiar foe Warren County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
