Baseball Recap: Lyons Lions vs. Flatirons Academy Bison
Lyons took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Flatirons Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Bison on Thursday.
Zack LaCrosse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jake LaCrosse was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Lyons' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Calvin Russell also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Lyons' record now sits at 4-5. As for Flatirons Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.
Looking ahead, Lyons will be playing at home against Estes Park at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Flatirons Academy, they will challenge Haxtun at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ftng Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
