Basketball Recap: Webber Takes a Loss

Webber was the 46-43 winner over Sandoval when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Webber Trojans were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 40-39 to the Sandoval Blackhawks.

Chloe King and Edyn Knight certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. King dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards, while Knight dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave King a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lydia Hulbert, who posted four points and three steals.

Sandoval's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Harlie Harper, who earned ten points and eight steals. Harper has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiya Ray, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 boards.

Webber's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4. As for Sandoval, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Webber will take on Edwards County in a holiday battle at at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Sandoval and Wayne City/Cisne will compete for holiday cheer at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
