Baseball Recap: Rio Americano Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Rio Americano dropped their record down to 16-9 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Christian Brothers Falcons by a score of 2-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Raiders' seventh straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Carter Dean was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rio Americano saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Gale, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Christian Brothers, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.

On Christian Brothers' side, Josh Lewis tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Lewis has posted since back in May of 2024.

While Rio Americano had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
